Lightpainting
Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 04:40PM This past weekend I had a project for my photography class that required me to use a slow shutter speed and paint with light. I was in Kauai with my parents over the weekend and I decided that it would be fun and interesting to do my project there. This proved to be true, but there were some major challenges in the process as well; it was pouring rain pretty much the entire time I was there, and the beach we were shooting at had bonfires that clouded up the air. The first night we attempted to shoot was a failure due to the intense weather, but despite the pouring rain and thick smoke, my mom, dad, and I took four great photos.
The three photos consisted of an abstract photo, which I used my light gloves for the abstract pattern and a flashlight to light the pier; a conceptual photo, which I made my mom into an angel with two different LED lights; and a portrait photo, which I outlined my dad with two LED lights and gave him an outer glow. We also took an extra photo of the shack at the end of the pier, where my dad and I lit the pier and shack with high-powered LED flashlights.
The photos can be viewed in the album in the pictures section of my site entitled, "Lightpainting".
